Star Wars Celebration Chicago Hasbro Panel

Triple Force Friday 2019 is going to triple bankrupt you.  Hasbro has revealed some amazing toys, and confirmed packaging details for some others we already had on our Christmas list.  You can order most of these through Dark Side Toys (some dates still to be confirmed).

Lets get to it…starting with the leaked Emperor Palpatine, stealing some of Hasbro’s thunder.  Regardless of how we found out, the updated sculpt, photoreal facepaint and generous accessories make this a must have.

Three Disney parks exclusives were also shown, combining newer versions of existing figures with updated facepaint, as well as exciting new characters like Hondo Ohnaka and the Star Tours pilot, DJ R-3X.  Also of note the C-3PO is the first Black Series version to feature elbow articulation, which is about time if you ask me.

The next batch of reveals were all about the packaging.  Some of these were initially shown well over a year ago, but now we can see how they will look at retail, they must be almost upon us.

The previously announced Skiffs, and the Skiff guard three pack has also been shown in its multilingual packaging.  Two interesting facts were also announced.  Firstly, the three figures are also individually carded within the box.  Secondly, the Vizam figure comes with a deck gun which will come in handy for those Barge owners out there looking for more firepower.

Two more new reveals followed.  A Luke Vintage collection three pack, and a Darth Vader based off the random colour schemes of the prototypes made during the design process.  The colouring of the Vader figures will be randomised.

The panel closed with an exclusive for Celebration attendees only, and the audience was asked to put away their phones at this point.  Several reliable sources have described Hasbro showing off some sort of concept / work in progress of a new Lightsaber which they are developing.  This is said to come without the traditional blade and apparently utilises light in some manner to create a blade from the handle.  I can’t wait to hear more about that in future, and as soon as I do, I’ll post it here.  Stay tuned.
