Solo Mimban Stormtrooper 3.75 Figure

There are two types of Action figures in the 3.75 range.  One is articulated to various degrees, to enable a variety of poses, or to fit easily into vehicles and playsets.  The other is designed with one or two poses in mind, to really accurately depict the character as seen in the movie.  The Solo Mimban Stormtrooper is firmly in the second category, sculpted with guarding or patrolling poses as the primary use of the figure.  That is not to say you couldn’t do anything else with him, but the elbows are locked in the gun carrying position to cradle the highly detailed E11 or the longer rifle nicely.  Interestingly, the wrists are articulated which is a small step in the right direction.

The figure itself is well detailed, with the Standard ‘TK’ armour design, as well as an additional visor on the helmet, reminiscent of the Scarif helmet designs.  There is also a rain cape / poncho made out of plastic, not cloth, but it simulates material in the way it drapes down quite accurately.  If you are brave enough, you can even pop the head off and remove the cape, but personally I think it’s fine to stay where it is.  The wet look of the cape and muddy detail really underscores the grim appearance of the figure.

Speaking of the head, this is an area that has received some flack from the toy community for surprisingly missing some of the black paint applications you would expect to see in the ‘TK’ helmet.  For me, I’m not put off, but some collectors might feel a need to dry brush some black paint onto the ‘frown’ and visor trim.  Where Hasbro has left out some paint on the face, the rest of the Mimban Stormtrooper is completely covered in swampy mud detailing.  Judging by the state of this guy, Mimban is as miserable in the Solo movie as it was in Splinter Of The Minds Eye. Not even Wobani troopers (Rogue One) were this filthy.

There is only one of these Troopers per box, so expect to hunt about if you are still buying through retail.  I got mine from Dark Side Toys and I’m really pleased with him.  The figure is Force Link 2.0 enabled but I can’t comment on the included phrases, I dont have the reader yet.  A bit of plus and minus, but the Mimban Stormtrooper easily lands in the top fifty percent of my Stormtrooper collection.  Nice one Hasbro.

The Solo range, including the Mimban Stormtrooper can be purchased here.
