Echo Base Live

Saturday 28th April, the Kingfisher shopping centre in Redditch became part of the Star Wars galaxy for the day. The Annual Echo Base live event packed three separate spots throughout the mall with all manner of Star Wars toys and collectibles. The Imperial armed forces were patrolling the shopping centre, keeping order, and posing for fans in their shiny armour. Vendors showcased a wide selection of toys, both loose and on card from every era of Star Wars collecting.
Also appearing were some of the stars of the movies themselves (Michael Carter – Bib Fortuna, Chris Parsons – 4-LOM among others), happily chatting away with fans and signing photo’s and toys. The latest hot items from the Solo range were also showcased by Dark Side Toys, the Scottish company that made the Haslab Sailbarge available to Europe and the U.K.
Echo Base Live is free to attend, and is something every U.K. Star Wars fan needs to put on their calendar. Boxed rarities from the dawn of the franchise, such as a complete Death Star playset, and Wicket the Ewok roller skates sat amongst thousands of loose vintage figures. If there is something you are looking for to complete your collection, I’ll be racing to beat you to it, this time next year in Redditch.
